Should Nouns expect/ encourage people and projects to be active contributors before they submit a candidate or prop? Asking because we're in a race to 0 for mints and treasury.

I don't think so. This is not the PTA or an after school club, we are a decentralized group trying to fund ideas with the highest impact and those are completely separate to whether the person is expected to be a good community member. It would be an artificial limitation that would decrease the quality of our pipeline. Gatekeeping the Treasury to active community members is just the opposite of what Nouns has always been. Everyone is a Noun if you act Nounish, there is no purity tests.

Furthermore there is no way for you to tell who is an active contributor or not. I bet you can't name all the people doing good work for Nouns Japan or Nouns eSports or the team working hard at Nounish. Are they players playing for Nouns and the artists editing videos at eSports not active contributors? Just because these people don't hold a noun, don't vote, don't post into Farcaster does not mean they are activity contributors. Those activities are actually lower value than what people are doing in the field. Finally many of our most treasured Nouners are working hard on their projects, delivering and are not always deeply embedded in the community.

I think the Candidate + Sponsorship is the correct gateway. It's hard to get a prop up if you can't get a Noun excited about it. So to each their own on how they choose to sponsor props. This is probably the real question. Why did a project which seemed extractive get sponsored in the first place? To each there own on sponsorship. Some like to give new folks a chance, some like to sponsor only things they are truly passionate about. And we want as many candidate props as possible. It's fine if there is low quality stuff in candidates, let's make sure the idea funnel is huge.

I will say that it is cool when a Nouncilor hears a pitch from a noob and immediately apes into a sponsorship. These are just my personal views because I'm always trying to put in work before asking for anything. That's just me tho. 8 know oftentimes it's unrealistic to expect someone to be present for months while doing the thing and then mayyyyyybe get sponsored or funded.

I think there is a great project hiding in here to create a modern format for talking about your proposal and why you are passionate about it and Nouns. It drives me crazy that our (all DAO) props don't natively embed video. Sometimes people link to a sizzle reel but they rarely link to them authentically talking about a prop. Sometimes I vote No, then later meet the person IRL and it all clicks and I realize I would have voted Yes if all thinkong, passion and experience came through the wall of text we call Props.
