I’m surprised you find chron feed really boring. I personally find it very good. The chron feed also reminds you that you may be following some users that you should unfollow. The algorithm does a good job at hiding those accounts. The main point many people like myself have been making recently is that the Warpcast team has no good reason for not offering a chron feed option for anyone who prefers it as the default choice. The only thing I can think of is that they want to control distribution of attention and the algo is how they do that. It’s the same reason why channels are more like tags instead of real communities like subreddits.

thanks for the write up! i'm one of those people that'd like to have reverse chrono feed. However, as an option. I see benefits on both worlds, and a combination could be much more interesting from a user perspective imo. Being updated on what friends are doing as it happens or getting timely/current content (a must in this industry imo), then switching to an algo type of feed that, working well, bring new and fresh content from people I'm yet to discover. Although I don't want to be hyperconnected in general, I'd have the option to do it. What's not interesting though: every day I open WP, casts are 10h, 15h, 1d old. Feels like arriving too late, the conversation is over. I dont see the content from people I want to. Notifs are on for some, and even that doesn't show me all casts. I hear Supercast is amazing and kudos to the team, but adding a new sub these days (and at $10) on top of everything else, still having to use both apps bc of features that are WP only... hmmm tough one :) sorry for the book.

It is in the last few days that I am hearing more and more about supercast. I still haven't decided for myself if I should use it. I can do deferred posting via wildcard, but I really have a problem with structuring the content, and I often skip things I don't want to skip, because there are so many people here, and I can just forget that someone is working on something or something.

it was a good read ccarella i didn’t get the part when you said ‘’reverse chronological feed’’ on supercast. what does that mean please? i’m thinking of subscribing for the supercast, as it seems to have more benefits and you said you use that more for work related stuff.

Nice thoughtful quick read Chris, I actually use the two clients in a very similar, embrace algo "curation" but also the "slow web" as you so succinctly put it 😁 On a side note I've never used tik-tok so couldn't relate to that point in the article. 😂

Yes I agree with what you said about slow web, on my homepage your cast has appeared, but in my notifications it doesn't appear. Sometimes I also load my warpcast homepage to clear all casts, and revert to the most recent cast, but sometimes the casts are the same and don't change.
