actively working on a thesis about how the internet has accelerated cultural globalization leading to context collapse, and the result is that interpersonal meaning is dead in the water we don't know each other anymore we only know everything else so we fight with facts instead of connecting with wonder

so the idea is that the internet/social media has created an environment where we don't know the audience we're broadcasting to, and we don't know the people we're talking to either (this is context "collapse") the lack of context shows up in a lot of ways: how we argue, how we learn, who we listen to, and on and on

importantly, context is the basis of all relationshipsâwe don't become friends until we know a certain amount about someone but we're navigating an environment where context development is severely hindered, so our relationship skills are also suffering (see: the rise of social anxiety and parasocial relationships)

i'm working to incorporate awe and wonder right now, which feels critical awe is most powerful and most common when witnessing human bravery. other things like nature evoke it too, but the data show that humanity is the most reliable source

bravery/courage is acting DESPITE fear, but to recognize it, you have to be able to identify that a situation was indeed scary. without context, we can't identify courage, and thus have a reduced capacity for aweânot due to emotional insufficiency, but structural and systemic obstacles
