Weird is on the nicer end. Deeply contrarian views get ostracized, ridiculed, even opposed by backchannel. Those same people will then later profess to have always been in your court, and believed in you all along when you prove your views right. Survival in all elements requires identifying snakes.

That's fair. I've been told I can be too nice. It's something I'm working on. In all seriousness though, yes, it can get really ugly, really fast. That's one reason I'm hopeful about web3: the truth is easier to uncover and unlike web2, having no presence will be a red flag in itself.
