I read this earlier today, have boxed/wrestled/MMA/BJJ/combatives/etc all my life, and am pretty ambivalent about your reasoning.

I'm a huge advocate for people feeling confident in their ability to utilize their body, but framing it as protection for yourself and others feels like wishful thinking at best...

So unfortunately I’ve mostly stopped combat sports because I have already had too many TBI’s and need my brain to keep working 😬

But it used to be a 2-3x a week deal depending on the phase of life.

I’ve cracked my head too many times while rolling on the mat to really be pumped to risk it again lol

And I think that is a reasonable thing to write out online, but is much harder to execute in practice when again it’s just much safer to exit the situation as quickly as possible rather than “defend”

Gotcha, sounds like BJJ is the thing for you - combatives without the head trauma. 

There’s a vast chasm between being prepared and capable to defend yourself & your loved ones when needed and recklessly committing to unnecessary violent confrontations. Marc advocated the former, not the latter.
