In an ideal world (based on what I've heard, this is what I hope to see)

3 staking tiers with OpenRank influencing allowances

Start:
10k = 1k allowance
100k = 3k allowance
1 mil = 10k allowance

Openrank allows all tiers to grow to 1m allowance

1mil tier gets harder to climb as it's flattened but reaches a 15k allowance

The majority of the most active daily users will opt in for the 100k tier. 

We see an influx of new users as acquiring a balance is easier, and they can "plug and go"

Tip dumping & tip rings exist now and will still exist with staking. 

10k tier can still grow to the 1mil allowance just as they could have with previous systems.

We still have 3 tiers of people.  These tiers remain relatively unchanged as people with big allowances still have big allowances. 

But now we have an easier on ramp instead of explaining, "You start with 5 degen as an allowance"

I hope it's something like this.  This is healthy.  This will spark growth and, more importantly, scratch the surface of retention.

I still think that the gap between 100k and 1m is too big and would like to see smaller steps but I do like this a lot more than the system now with all the overstaking killing small stakers' allowances!

If he actually pivots then I'll stake some, myself!

Degen Allowance Recommendation to Not Let Whales Tip the Scales

Please modify the algorithm to calculate the threshold for 10K at any given time and then not count anything above that for any individual staker.

I had a thought on the tip locks, I think @jacek should eliminate some of the outlier values that people staked. Example the guy/gal who staked 15 million degen should only have as much counted as would give him/her a 10k allo, and the excess should not be counted in the pool for tips. Same with all large locks, so staking a large amount would give them a safety net for maintaining their 10k allo, but only counting the minimum required for max allo would lower the average amount to receive the max. 

Just a thought.

This is a brilliant idea! There is nothing good that will come of more whales staking larger amounts. It will make it IMPOSSIBLE to get into the game.
