Time to revisit a few predictions I gave a year ago. https://warpcast.com/cassie/0xad5f29 The dot com bubble fully leveled out by the end of 2002.

I had a strong philosophical difference of views about what should be done in the direction of crypto's future, which is what lead me to leave Coinbase. But I will say, without a shadow of a doubt, that Coinbase is being put through absolute FUD nonsense with this, and it's so obvious the origin of this attack is coming from one of the least trustworthy people in this industry. Would you rather trust your wrapped BTC with: 1. An audited public company with extremely rigid security controls and compliance teams (cbBTC), or 2. Justin Sun holding enough keys to a multisig to control it at any time (wBTC) And if your answer is genuinely 2, dear god why? https://x.com/CampbellJAustin/status/1835774529408553203

good traders almost never talk up their book or seek outside opinions take a trade, book profit and if you dont then take the lesson all the big accounts on CT are either sold or were always hacks ones that are actually wealthy are there from being early and having access to an easy lifestyle, not from any actual talent or skill this is the true fallacy of crypto as it is now.. supporting crypto is just supporting Blackrock no one gives af about decentralisation, cypher punk values or minimising government anymore it's not early and it's too late to change course. either go with it or get left behind

I guess I started an accidental AMA on which parts of the crypto space are good and which I'm so far not excited about, along with other big picture vision questions: https://x.com/VitalikButerin/status/1827583576751181961 You should feel free to ask questions here too! Let's see if Farcaster can come up with higher-quality questions than the other app :)

Years ago, when I started building a decentralized discord clone, people asked me why. I wanted a communication tool that was truly decentralized, in a way that no state actor was able to gain control over. Signal's design wasn't capable of group chats beyond a certain size. The features only went so far. And it has failure points such that countries block them by firewall and have to rely on the good graces of others to run proxies, which ultimately get shut down or blocked too. App stores do not share in this ideal — their concern is profit, and will bend backwards when forced to by regulatory bodies. Amazon and others are complicit in helping state actors maintain their control of the web, and are profiting handsomely from the arrangement. None of this happened by accident. And I only saw it getting worse. I realized what I was building in this chat application went beyond just chat, and how pressing it was to make this general purpose.

This week at /quilibrium we shipped - first stage of mainnet with bootstraps moved to 2.0 network: https://github.com/QuilibriumNetwork/ceremonyclient/tree/v2.0-bootstrap - separate MIT-licensed cut of RPM – a distributed mixnet once proposed to kill MEV: https://github.com/QuilibriumNetwork/rpm - first pass of acceptance tests of bootstraps (we're so close now to mainnet being unlocked) - a few acceptance tests and possible tweaks remain 🤞

This. This is why I've said this so many times, in so many ways. Public ledgers are a mistake. They are the single greatest failing in crypto, and privacy should never be an opt in. This is bad. Crypto is not just trading tokens, it's part of a broader ethos of freedom and privacy and keeping power in the hands of the little guy. These values unfortunately continue to be under attack, globally. https://twitter.com/LizaGoitein/status/1781546937675657392

The media is ignoring the worst of this. I’m going to take a brief moment to share the broader message I shared with the Quilibrium community after news broke. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/senate-renews-fisa-section-702-spying-privacy-rcna148394#
