My gut tells me if we stopped the tipping culture in the US, the actual money made by restaurants/workers wouldn’t change much.

I don’t think so… a friends partner is a server at a local place, nice but nothing super fancy.  In a good week has cleared  2K.  Hard to imagine that position gets posted at 40-50/hr.

Other local place does service fee in lieu of tips - wages 25-30 iirc, had some staff leave for tipped gigs.

Very seasonal though
