Crypto is more than money โ€” what guns are to preserving physical freedom and independence from oppressive forces, crypto is to preserving digital freedom and independence from oppressive forces.

crypto could be better spent on more things w/o trading away the vibe with NFTs & DeFi. it's definitely not mature in the sense that people easily live off it while having fun.

I would say crypto is mainly finance. Web3 extends crypto in many ways.

Depends on the blockchain. Bitcoin is only about money. Smart contract blockchains are much, much more. https://theworldcomputer.org

my thought is that much like social media was the "killer app" for the internet, defi is undeniably the "killer app" for crypto (although many other applications like decentralized social, identities, gaming etc will run on crypto rails) the biggest marketcap will go to a financial application

I feel like it's more about the qualia you get when you are transacting, collecting, etc. Those things can cost money, sure, but I'd like to think it's also about permanence and coordination and providing a modular way of doing so.

Crypto is about preserving and transferring digital value, which is why there canโ€™t be a middle man able to track, seize or dilute it.

I still have not seen a non-money use case that _needs_ crypto, but I'm open to finding one.
