Any recommendations for sports that get you in shape but are less injury prone? Boxing was perfect but got a concussion a few years ago and can't pursue it at the level I want to anymore.

I wanted to. A friend of mine whos done it for years said I should expect ligament injuries, “it’s just the reality with different partners at different skill levels and temperaments” You tried?

Its all about learning to express when someone is going to hard and being OK with walking away from the middle of a roll, as well as tapping early and often. But even so you just never know. My first open mat with Covid I rolled with a white belt who ripped an ankle lock from z guard, I was out for 9 months.

But I came back stronger after that, though I've since left the sport for long distance trail running. I think it is one of the best sports for joint mobility, core strength, and mental stimulation. If you find a gym with the right vibe, I would definitely recommend trying it out

I should note, I could have avoided the submission that injured me had I just anticipated it and tapped, or used the proper technique to escape. Unless your partner is a straight up psycho, you almost always have time to tap - assuming your ego doesn't get in the way (mine did that time)
