Anyone read this? Just picked up a copy to see if I can improve myself a bit. Unmedicated ADHD - along with some other mental/physical issues from military life - leave me pretty unorganized and often procrastinating. I know just reading a book won’t solve it all and I’ll still have to take a lot of action, but it’s a start. Surprise visit from the kitten too! πŸ˜‚

Sooo. It's a wonderful book. Solid advice... For most My unmedicated ADHD fks me in the way that I can have all the knowledge in the world. But lack the ability to apply it. I be knowing but in a constant state of fkn task paralysis. It's. Fucking. Stupid. My shit not yours. I super hope you have better luck applying the techniques in the book.

Sounds like you and I have nearly identical brains then lol, so trust me when I say I know exactly what you mean! While I was finishing my military career I had an Occupational Therapist to help with my ADHD and while she gave me all of the best info possible, it's not enough for someone like us. I just have the info in piles, or saved on my computer where I've pretty much never looked at any of it. If it's outside of my daily routine, or isn't dopamine inducing for me, I'm probably not doing it. It's so bad, but I'll give the book a try and see if it can even help me push forward a few inches! πŸ’œ

Oh my, I felt every single word of that.. I'm like the queen of screenshot for later. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I was diagnosed after my oldest was like 3 years ago. And looking back on my life, holy fuck so much clarity was amassed from realizing I'm not just broken. I wondered for most of my life., like wtf is wrong with. Why is being a person SO FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE. ADHD. Lol but again attending seminars and reading and researching only does so much in brains like ours. Side question. What's your relationship with laundry like? Lol

Right there with you on the SS and save for later, only to never go back to it again lol. I was also diagnosed very late in life, just a few years ago actually. It's kinda frustrating because my mom and everyone else were like "oh ya, you definitely have ADHD, you were crazy as a kid" and I'm wondering "then why tf did no one do anything?!" 🀣 Neurotypical people have NO idea the struggle that comes along with having a brain like this. I'd trade it for a normal brain any day of the week tbh. Having the ability to hyper-focus on things we REALLY are into isn't worth the overwhelming negatives we have to live with. As for laundry, not a huge fan lol. Thankfully my wife does most of it and sometimes I'll do smaller loads of some of my own things lol

Same. Like awesome y'all be knowing meanwhile I'm over here legit thinking my brain is just broken. Ahh the wife. Maybe I should get one of those. Lol Fkn laundry is my kryptonite. Ugh. Soo much time in between warrants forgetting at least 3 times and then getting distracted by a fkn side quest my brain thought would be more enjoyable.

I often fantasize about would it would be like to be neurotypical. Like I bet it's peaceful AF. Not having to constantly combat my fked brain chemistry. Then I get hungry. πŸ˜‚
