What's something that makes little or no sense (in web3) yet it's the norm?

Job ads all saying "must have web3 experience" or people thinking 'web3 experience' is more important than actual skills. As far as I can tell it's the only industry that thinks people can't learn the context. It keeps the pool of people so small & means we are missing out on so much talent which could transition.

I've come back to this cast a few times today. It's complicated for me. I see that jobs seem more secure, but Web3 is about ownership. I'm hoping that we exchange hours for dollars less, and contribute value in exchange for decision making power more.

I’m not sure I totally follow with regards to my cast on recruitment, but I like the ownership take - altho do you think many web3 ‘jobs’ are delivering that? Or are you thinking hopefully more DAOs spring up again to build?

Well, I think if someone asked me if Chones was hiring, I'd probably feel like they haven't spent much time in Web3, which would mean that I would need to show them all the new stuff, which is fine. But if someone asked me if Chones is open to contributions that earn shares...

then I'd want to have a conversation, including actual pay, earning shares. In both cases, we'd learn from each other.

Ah gotcha! I was thinking the reverse, when web3 biz wants say a marketing mgr/ PR / analyst they say ‘needs web3 experience’. Eg. an insurance company wants one they don’t say must have insurance exp. Maybe B2B or B2B wanted but not specific industry. Lost opportunity for onboarding new talent & people.
