Do you think the word "metaverse" has been corrupted to the point it can't be saved?

i don’t think so, AI was corrupted pretty bad but it rose when its time came to be hopefully the same with metaverse!

Not to the point it can’t be saved but yeah too many companies corrupted the term. Journalists did not help (always showing VR helmets as is the only way to enter the Metaverse) but I’m still optimistic.

I think metaverse doesn’t really have a meaning. It was too broadly used for me. The internet, Telegram, virtual reality, blockchain metaverse - everything online & nothing is the metaverse.

Partially yes. I think metaverses need to use a different branding approach based on their specific user base and try to steer clear of the word. I feel like /edison does pretty well at this.

Yes and I don't think we need it either! I love what metaverse is but I don't love what the general public thinks it is. And to be fair I don't love what a lot of the crypto world thinks metaverse is either.

It's a perfectly good word. It can be rehabilitated. Maybe Meta needs to change their name back to facebook first.

Pretty much. It was misused and misinterpreted and even those still advocating for the metaverse continue to say things like ‘there will be multiple metaverses’ when they really just mean virtual or mixed reality platforms

Honestly no but it will take time. There are still plenty of people operating in this space calling their projects "a Metaverse" that totally misunderstand the concept and ignore its roots leading to poor communication and knowledge of what is and isn't a part of the Metaverse.

It’s definitely in trouble. Plus I feel like people confuse it with the “multiverse.” “Digital worlds” or “immersive spaces) work as well

I think the name is irrelevant. When we see product market fit it won’t matter what it’s called.
