there comes a point in life where most of us realize that we weren’t good enough at a hobby or passion to get paid full time for it that’s not even life being unfair imo, that’s just life

It’s a tough realization, but it’s true that not every passion or hobby will turn into a full-time career. Often, it's about finding a balance between pursuing what you love and making a living. Even if something doesn't become your main income source, it can still bring joy and fulfillment in other ways...how u feel bro?

Not even factoring in life constraints as well. I'd love to write full-time but I have a full-time job so writing becomes de-prioritized for that. Maybe 3/4 of the writers / creatives I knew in LA who complained about stuff like this were the types to send 1 shitty LinkedIn app for a job hunt then be done applying. Show up late twice in the first week. If you were making good enough-- necessary-- art to excuse that, you wouldn't be complaining in the first place but only figuring out how to get it done.

It’s honestly just life But then i feel like, there’s always the determination for improvement. Does that not make a difference in the thought process? There are some people that don’t even give up despite feeling that way

this also applies to the music world too. plenty of people wanting to be put on to shows or record deals who… shouldn’t have even hit record to begin with. having “it” isn’t something that can be taught nor learned.

and then there's the hole-in-the-wall meta in tokyo. I don't think art or its patronage can generalize.

Real. it's a tough realization but a very common one. Not being able to turn a passion into a full time career doesn't mean the passion is any less valuable.

I realized that in elementary school. When my dream of being a baseball player was gone, I decided to be realistic, haha.

eh, talent is nothing without opportunity, though. I think you can be professionally good in a lot of creative areas but either via lack of opportunity, which basically boils down to luck, or lack of marketing (not having someone to sell you, or being able to sell yourself, you get nowhere where others, with less talent but better luck (or marketing) turn it into a successful paid profession.
