Her story is not conventional: from a high school teacher in Japan to entering the cryptocurrency industry; from an educator in the classroom to an evangelist in the crypto industry, and then to becoming the leader of the Ethereum Foundation

AVP has two possible directions: - work device - entertainment device never quite got there on productivity and was too expensive as an entertainment device. if it were half the price as a personal movie theater (and all the streaming services) I think it would actually sell well

I find bostromā€™s simulation trilemma to be a bit self defeating - especially point about 3. then we must be living in a simulation - bit self referential. How do we differentiate between simulated minds and real minds? It feels a bit difficult to falsify and therefore as an argument it doesnā€™t quite resonate for me because it neither helps nor doesnā€™t help in a cogent argument about whether we are in a simulation or not Ok July, but what if we are in a simulation. Well, if thatā€™s the case whoā€™s simulating the simulators? How much recursion is there? What is the substrate that the simulator is running on and whatā€™s preventing them from also falling into the same trilemma. But again, this is a philosophical excuse to hypothesize about possibilities, so Iā€™m open to the idea. That being said, Iā€™ve always thought it interesting that the exact amount of computation / energy to run a simulation of the universe, is the universe and its known energy of the universe (dark matter, dark energy aside)

Day 12: Dispatches A semi-cohesive collection of spectacular gonzo flavored Vietnam War semi-journalism. Chaotic neutral on the war book alignment chart. The author worked on the scripts for Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket and this book has a lot of that energy. It also created lot of the vibe and a lot of the tropes that show up consistently in other Vietnam War movies. Itā€™s heavy on absurdity and you constantly feel like anything could happen, but it never gets too disorienting. If you read it in a single sitting, youā€™d spend the next week talking like Dennis Hopperā€™s character from Apocalypse Now. Five stars. Definitive work

For end-users, the product operates like a regular stablecoin since it is designed specifically for profit-sharing partners such as centralized exchanges, incentivizing them to use the product on their platforms

academic policy paper on this for those interested: https://fireecology.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s42408-024-00301-y also learned thereā€™s an large amount of startups globally using AI + sensors or satellites (or both) for fire detection and a small but growing number using robots / drones for firefighting.

learning as much as i can about wildfires. prescribed burns are a prevention tactic to reduce the buildup of vegetation that could serve as fire fuel. it takes an avg of 4.7 yrs for a prescribed burn to get through environmental reviews. 80M acres need urgent treatment ā€” that means now, not in 5 years. maddening!

Having a points system still when you already have a token is a layer of concealing the value of a given action in an ecosystem and it's kind of bullshit. Just have it directly correlate to a % of total token pool for the action(s). Change my mind

Update: Woof, lost a lot of time trying due to an issue with Bun. TL;DR: Bun's implementation of Response.clone() is broken. So after wasting a bunch of time figuring out why the project wouldn't start and having it be a runtime bug, I got it running. Pointed it at a repo I own and it actually did something! It left a comment on an open issue being like, "Working on it". Unfortunately, it never pushed any code, and I can't see what it's doing because there's no logging. I did try to use Cursor Composer to generate this whole thing after all. So, I'm gonna do what any reasonable person would do and try to write it by hand. Having o1 and Cursor scaffold off this project, even though it doesn't seem to work, gave me a pretty good idea of all the things that need to happen, and I'm hoping I can knock it out pretty quickly. I'm also still sick, so I can't really go anywhere right now. Might as well work on this šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø https://warpcast.com/typeof.eth/0x5a604885
