moxie / tipping metas need to add a cost to each reply if I reply 100 times and get a minuscule amount of total engagement I should earn 0 or even go negative

If you reply too much in a period of time you go straight to moxie jail That’s pretty negative

how much is too much? one reply less than this limit incurs no cost? what if a honest actor getting a lot of engagement goes over this limit? a general -X for every reply seems a lot more robust and less reactive

also do and should replies earn moxie at all? seems like this incentivizes endless tiresome notifications without adding much value top level casts are valuable and don’t suffer from the same negative externality when inevitably done in mass by farmers

Replies do earn because often the value is in the replies. If I cast asking: what is the best movie you’ve seen this year that I probably haven’t? I earn for prompting the conversation And replies earn for providing the answers And the best answers as determined by the community’s engagement earn most It works

if I ask this question and for every 1 genuine reply there are 10 farmers it’s a significant net negative for me

kinda but one this is fairly hard to do especially with LLMs where the content itself isn’t a good signal, instead requires “hide unless proven good” effectively shadow banning new accounts otherwise a farmer just spins up a fresh account, farms on it for a bit taking advantage of getting into replies, and then starts over two this makes it much harder to build a client, need to invest heavily in finding the signal in the noise and suppressing everything else
