I think it's a massive opportunity. If decentralized social networks become one of the drivers of mass blockchain adoptions finding a way to facilitate ads at the protocol level could become a very scalable value capture.

It also gives a path for free to user apps that can be sustainable. Depending on how it's designed it could also solve many of the social and anti-competitive issues with existing ad networks.

I'm going to try and write out a more complete idea on this, but yes I think that's the goal. Create a decentralized permissionless (ideally autonomous) ad exchange. IMO I'd love to see that as part of the Farcaster protocol. Ties value capture to every-day usage vs just signup
