Can you please explain me the meaning and utility in minting a post on mirror? Sorry if I look dumb, but I really can't understand why should someone mint and pay for a blog post

You want to “collect” it. Same reason people collect Pokémon cards now they can collect blog posts they enjoy. From the authors stand point they also have the addresses of all their collectors so they can do with that what they choose. Whether its airdropping a thank you NFT or something more creative

Maybe it's me but I really don't get the meaning of collecting a nft for no usage. It's ok, if you want to explicitly support someone’s work, but collecting a post, where you actually have to pay the minimum mirror fee, really can't get into my head.

Just because it’s fun to, sounds like your curiosity extends beyond collecting blogs to why do people collect anything. Why did people mint the first day on Base Nft or personally I was pumped to get @balajis.eth preorder Nft for the network state book, there was no utility to it

I don't want to look rude and sorry for I give you this impression, but I don't get any value in collecting something fully digital. What happens once you have 1k useless nft? You browse them on your wallet and what then? If I think of the real potential of Nfts, I believe 99% of actual mints are useless.

Think about likes. People value them even if they have no $ value. “Oh wow Elon liked my post” And if you actually had a portfolio of 100 onchain likes from prominent investors that would show you are probably a thoughtful writer. It could even go on your resume. Basically, NFTs make social collectibles.

People thought the like button was dumb when it was introduced in 2009. But now it’s used billions of times per day. NFTs allow all those social interactions to become collectible. Which will lead to new kinds of social interactions. Kind of like “micro transactions” but not necessarily $ valued individually.

Thx for your clarification! Do you think the like button would have been so popular world widely if users had to pay for each like?

Gasless compressed NFTs mean users don’t need to pay for each transaction, and the costs come way down for the sender too. Solana can currently send 1M NFTs for $10-100, I believe.

They don't even need to be NFTs. I think digital "autographs" could be big. You can build this today with an EIP-712 signature tied to a public ENS. You could prove that selfie you took was signed by taylorswift.eth, display a message from tylerhobbs.eth to you below your fidenza, or prove elon.eth liked your post.

Sure, but my doubts are related to if we need nft for this. Nfts, to me are meant for different things, and for showing appreciation, they are not the right tool. My 2 cents 😌
