Can you please explain me the meaning and utility in minting a post on mirror? Sorry if I look dumb, but I really can't understand why should someone mint and pay for a blog post

You want to “collect” it. Same reason people collect Pokémon cards now they can collect blog posts they enjoy. From the authors stand point they also have the addresses of all their collectors so they can do with that what they choose. Whether its airdropping a thank you NFT or something more creative

Maybe it's me but I really don't get the meaning of collecting a nft for no usage. It's ok, if you want to explicitly support someone’s work, but collecting a post, where you actually have to pay the minimum mirror fee, really can't get into my head.

Just because it’s fun to, sounds like your curiosity extends beyond collecting blogs to why do people collect anything. Why did people mint the first day on Base Nft or personally I was pumped to get @balajis.eth preorder Nft for the network state book, there was no utility to it

I don't want to look rude and sorry for I give you this impression, but I don't get any value in collecting something fully digital. What happens once you have 1k useless nft? You browse them on your wallet and what then? If I think of the real potential of Nfts, I believe 99% of actual mints are useless.

Think about likes. People value them even if they have no $ value. “Oh wow Elon liked my post” And if you actually had a portfolio of 100 onchain likes from prominent investors that would show you are probably a thoughtful writer. It could even go on your resume. Basically, NFTs make social collectibles.

That’s a valid personal opinion and I’m not going to/trying to convince you otherwise That said people enjoy collecting “useless” nfts whether it’s blog posts from @joncharbonneau, preorder nfts from @balajis.eth, nfts for the latest Farcaster upgrade @dwr.eth, or digital art from an artist you support
