Some people think technological acceleration will bail out the current political order. We’ll grow our way out! Or so the logic goes. But did streaming bail out Blockbuster? Did smartphones bail out Nokia? Or did the Industrial Revolution bail out the monarchy? The growth did come. But so did the disruption.

Do you think LK-99 or equivalent breakthrough leads to increased power to status quo countries or more of an arm the rebels situation?

Should be noted that Blockbuster was nearly dead long before streaming took off and they also piloted a VOD service with Enron in 2001.

Agree. With the printing press, the church lost power. With social media, the traditional media and the establishment parties are seeing a lot of disruption. I wonder what will be the downstream effects of cryptocurrencies. How is that going to change the world?

Industrial Revolution is to a displaced monarchy as tech acceleration is to _________. Curious to think about what could be written in the blank.

Bail out? More like **crushing** the established order if they do not jump on the innovation train.

Technological acceleration only makes a difference here if it changes how people think.

It all depends on what is being optimised for. In the West, it seems to be more control of the population and rent extraction -- tech breakthrus will be exploited but not lead to reinvigoration of society, more likely the opposite.

renewable energy technology is bailing out the status quo, especially the states in which that energy was dependent on its incumbent product (gas, oil) to begin with. California, Texas, and many Midwest wind farm states.

cant we just out innovate the current political / economic misalignment through AI deployment in high volume / low variation jobs + automation / consultancy replacements through ai (eventually) and as a UBI through BTC? UBI through drugs could be a diff way to out-innovate depending on how wild / loose on 'out grow'
