Rough end of the year for safety. As much as the cause of the Azerbaijani accident is clear, the Jeju one will need investigating. It’s one of those seemingly wicked accidents where none of the explanations are individually likely.

Yup similar to the KLM bird strike back in 2004. Remember that as I was traveling through Europe when it happened. I think it was not just the bird strike leading to a broken cable but also some steering issues and missed maintenance that compounded issues.
