It’s just a tool that many if not most recruiters and headhunters use nowadays to build an initial pipeline of candidates.

So to that extent, it’s useful, but I wouldn’t use it for anything more than a way to showcase your CV / profile / experience. You can ignore the feed entirely and never post to it.

LinkedIn got me 2 out of my 4 jobs so far, via headhunters who found my profile. So, it has served me well.

As much as people like to make fun of LinkedIn as a nauseating feed of self-serving posts, the trick is to keep one’s profile as neatly curated as possible to make it discoverable and appealing to recruiters

I don’t think I made any on LI itself. I usually meet people through work and conferences, and then add them on LI as a way to keep track of my network over time.

I don’t like being cold-emailed by strangers on LI so I also don’t use the tool to reach out to people out of the blue

LinkedIn served me well. If one pushes away all the cringe and start posting unhinged stuff, lots of interesting people reach out. In the sea of fishes, dolphins dance.

How many meaningful connections did you make on LinkedIn?

Seriously though, what is it with Linkedin trying to be facebook with this shit. Does anybody look at these and go "Wow! 20 years ago. thanks for reminding me. I feel great!"?
