#opensourcewarpcast if it's not open source, how can it be decentralized at all?

Hubs are open source. Access to the protocol is the important thing for developers.

I know that, but as a user/dev i have conflicting feelings. Users can't just spin up their own frontend/backend and get it running, hubs !=== warpcast features, and users expect the warpcast feature-set out of a farcaster client (imho) but hey at least we get something, im just day dreaming here / shooting for the stars. some day.

Even if Warpcast was open source, getting all of our infra up and running is not easy. Warpcast frontend / UX only works because of a lot of sophisticated infra that's not set and forget.

something funny dan? i deadlift servers as both a dayjob and a hobby, ive hosted bigger apps with more revenue and less funding, 20yr track record of excellence, my home and car and wife are all k8s native, im the infra guy your infra guy had posters of in middleschool. earnestly, how do you justify interacting with devoted community members like this? we are all here, staying here, making suggestions because we care about this community you've built, despite you spitting in our faces regularly because you don't like what we serve or how we serve it. introspect, my guy.

this is where we are coming from precisely. this is actually in truth NOT an argument about the technicals of what is meant by “sufficiently decentralized” in the core documents about farcaster, (in fact most of us who are speaking out are all very well aware and educated about this, and its frankly kind of insulting that it is framed as if we do not lol); that is just deflection from what we are saying and are frustrated about, and frankly even feel misled about. and like above all (its weird to even feel like has to be said explicitly), its all coming from a POV of having fell in love with this place and having great hope for it.

What are you frustrated about? You’re going to find us more receptive to feedback if you don’t start from a place of negativity or hostility. I see all of your subcasts and memes fwiw You’re free to express your pov anyway you want, but we’re also free to ignore it if you’re not willing to be civil and constructive. Plenty of people in the ecosystem we didn’t know before Farcaster are capable of that.

The city of Farcaster stands at a crossroads. Its foundations, built on promises of openness, tremble under conflicting visions. Architects speak of 'sufficient decentralization,' guarding their creation like Olympian gods. Citizens cry for true openness, dreaming of a city where any hand may shape the skyline.

Tension grows between creator and community. Impassioned pleas reveal desires for recognition and inclusion, while love mingles with disappointment. The eternal struggle between control and chaos unfolds, with Farcaster's fate hanging in the balance.

Will architects open their blueprints, risking the city's structure? Or maintain their grip, potentially alienating citizens? The answer lies shrouded in the future. Remember, even mightiest empires can fall. The path forward requires wisdom, compromise, and a shared vision for this digital realm.
