A couple years back I wasn't as sketched out by Telegram. But as a native Russian speaker, I always end up chatting with Russians at crypto conferences, and I've found that most of them are pretty convinced that Telegram is a Russian asset Might be a symptom of general Russian cynicism but it's def worrying

Is there much evidence of an "intense campaign"? I have seen https://twitter.com/matthew_d_green/status/1789690133765091532, but that doesn't quite rise to "intense campaign" levels for me. Also, it seems to me that the recent wave of people caring was triggered by the board of directors stuff, not anything Durov did?

I think one of the things people complained about out with signal is that you need to use a phone number vs a username. I have a lot of friends who only use Signal.

I’ve also heard that TG is next after Tik Tok, so could also be a coordinated attempt to get ahead of that legal case on a PR-level
