Our physicists and engineers just implemented an open-source AI model called TotalSegmentator. It’s a machine learning model that automatically draws 3D outlines around organs and tissues on CT scans — like the lungs, liver, even individual muscles. DOI: 10.1038/s41467-023-36337-4 Normally, this kind of segmentation takes hours to days of manual work. TotalSegmentator does it in minutes. I just check it for small errors and fix them if needed. Because I’m working with whole-body PET/CT, this is an absolute game-changer. I’ve basically shaved off 1–3 weeks of boring data wrangling per dataset using open-source AI. Bottom line: what used to support maybe 1–2 studies can now power 10+ new analyses from a single scan. Total segmentation = total acceleration. The only sad part? The best way to say thanks, is to cite the authors and/or star their GitHub repo — which feels a bit underwhelming for saving me 3 weeks of soul-crushing VOI drawing.

Just started tracking my ketones with a continuous ketones monitoring system, for research purposes (gonna check the wearable against classic finger prick system with hand held ketone meter). Any one got advice for tracking ketones?

Thx for sharing. It’s a great article! It brings a good perspective with all the hype there is with desci and the thought that biology/symbol can be innovated as fast as hard/software.

For those who are curious, the process is the picture is referring to is likely autophagy. Autophagy happens all the time but is highly active when people fast for more than 16 hours a day.

Used deep search feature on an llm to create a scientific literature review I needed (wanted to know about epigenetic changes relating to fasting). 2-3 iterations to make sure it got the correct citations. Now I have a document which is on par in terms of quality with what I would take months to create. Amazing! Any one know a webpage where such reviews are being posted? It might save others the time/energy from running the llm.

I haven't commented about rollups in several months, if not over a year, so I'm just a casual observer now... Native rollups are pretty cool, and what I meant by "enshrined zkEVM bridge" a couple of years ago (except they've got a wider scope than zkEVMs) However, they are not "enshrined rollups", as I wrote about them at least, which are in-protocol, L1 rollups Overarching thought on rollups: there simply has not been anywhere enough demand to saturate 1,000+ chains by 2025 like I had expected in 2021. Including all L1s and L2s, there's maybe like 10, at most. I'm sure demand will grow, but not to the magnitude anyone expected. It would be prudent to factor in this lower terminal demand in infrastructure designs, instead of just "build it they'll come" hopium. https://x.com/apolynya/status/1629651981768990720

lmao this is so good 🤣 to be clear: I am an ETH bull and it's important to take things lighthearted I don't get all this defensiveness around ETH is money, parasitic L2s etc. Our time will come again! Just be patient and take the piss in the meantime 🤣
