It's sad to me that we see manufacturing jobs, (routine, manual, and often unrewarding labor) as 'real' jobs. We need a better counternarrative that points out how our increasingly specialized labor force doing 'fake jobs' generates far more value for the world than manufacturing jobs ever will.

discussing things in terms of productivity is important i think. nothing wrong with manufacturing jobs, but we need to make sure that we prioritize high productivity manufacturing. nobody should want to return to low value add manufacturing that treats workers as replaceable cogs.
