One thing I don’t fully understand is what launching via Clanker gets you, especially if you’re making a token for your startup. What are you getting from all that, that’s worth the rake, especially for a long term effort?

Whereas in most token launchpads like pumpfun the LP gets burned or locked by the service, clanker's difference is that the launcher gets a small percentage of the supply and an ability to claim the LP fees, meaning it provides both rug protection and incentivizes the creator to keep their token alive.

It also means the token creator can still profit and use the LP fees to fund any projects related to the token without having to sell the token

But….. you don’t need Clanker to do this, do you?

Correct but clanker makes it 1) simple/immediate and 2) reassures traders the token can't be rugged (which is the big sell point of many token launchpads)

That’s interesting way to look at it. It’s like paying for a 3p certification on food “Clanker certified unruggable” Rake in perpetuity is still rough tho

Lol exactly. I think one other big value proposition for clanker is the ability to launch directly from your social feed, so for people with large followings wanting to create a token for some project/purpose, you don't have to have any technical knowledge and all of you followers can immediately and clearly see you launched it (and will therefore be the recipient of the LP fees). You could also promise to use the fees to buy back the token, but yeah the creator definitely profits
