Possibly, but honestly it just feels like total disconnection from the reality that the poor face. A 2024 report showed that between 12%-15% of seniors rely on their SS payments for 90% of their income. To not think those people might be on the phone immediately and feeling upset is just so blind to reality.

No that's never been the issue. The issue is the auditing method and what's being suggested in this clip. Unlike Lutnick's mother in law, my almost 90 year old Uncle has been on a fixed income for years, needs his SS checks each month to pay for mortgage, utilities, food, phone. He's going to notice right away if he doesn't get his check and he's going to call and make a big deal about it because it's a big deal for him. Lutnick here is suggesting that 1. It's an acceptable disruption to find the fraud which is ridiculous on its face and 2. That my Uncle raising the issue is likely to result in him being investigated or interpreted to be a fraudster, which is insane.
