I got into a huge fight today with someone who believes Elon is this free speech savior. I don’t I think he is censorious just in the opposite direction And more than that .. you know, it’s his right to do that. He owns the place. Parag ran it how he wanted and now Elon can too. You’re in their house you play by their rules. It’s not offensive in either direction actually Having access to a Facebook/YouTube/Twitter/Instagram account is a nice to have It’s not some inalienable right. We lived most of our lives without these things, and you are absolutely free to go say slurs or spew anti semitism or whatever you want, on your own website or in your own home. Or I guess now, in the Elon Regime, it’s say “cisgender”

Arguably it's much worse as a private co than a public one. Parag was accountable to the board, shareholders, etc. Musk has some accountability with his private investors but he has enough resources (which he has been known to divert from his other companies) where he can tell them to pound sand.

Either way it’s fine. I can — and should — leave there. We don’t /need/ these things and if we want to consider what is said on these platforms a part of free speech then maybe they should be nationalized
