teacher explained how major academic goal is to get basics for reading & writing in place before stating a big focus will be cursive writing to which i unwisely chuckled

never in my adult life have i gotten such a glare from another adult 😭

Oh, poor you. Chuckling in class. In a French school. Did she tell you to write "je ne chuklerai plus" 100 times in cursive?

Seriously though, I can understand the chuckle. I love writing by hand, I understand its importance and practicality, too, but I also was not used to this particular focus on this particular way of writing. My kids make beautiful 'z's now, though.

When we learned about this, the French teacher even focused on the importance of how the fingers were holding the pen. Or pencil.

it was a 45 min talk by the teacher and she spent >5 min talking about the cursive 😆
