It's intriguing that the only form of communism that ever worked was the kibbutzim, and then only for a few decades (though apparently they're coming back).

I recall visiting the attacked kibbutzim of the Gaza envelope, and despite the echoes of the horror, they seemed like verdant paradises in the desert, full of both communal life and industry.

I started my career in a private equity that bought 50% stake in Kibbutzim factories. Spent a lot of time in many. They had amazing innovation (they led the 70s-00s Israel tech sector, today considered low tech). But all failed management wise and eventually most of them crumbled under the weight of collectivism

My dad worked at a dog food factory in a Kibbutz back when he was a backpacking lilshid. Owner made him responsible of the entire production line after like two weeks and disappeared lol. Told him to put it on his cv (he won't)
