I always like this idea of trying to fail. Just think about it—try to make a bad painting, try to act badly, try to be lousy in a scene. It’s interesting. It puts the idea of striving for perfection in a different light. You’ve got to find ways to not worry and be free. If you're content to fail, or at least accept it somewhere, it helps. Being hard on yourself means constantly kicking yourself for not doing better. You’ve got to deal with this striving impulse, which can hurt you. You need just enough of it to get you moving and trying new things, but not so much that it suffocates you and makes you uptight. Put yourself in situations where you can't control things, right?

i do love this perspective its like giving yourself permission to explore without the weight of expectations the idea of intentionally creating 'bad' work is liberating, it shifts the focus from perfection to growth antimo how do you personally balance that line between pushing yourself and letting go of control?

I loved this it's hard to make progress when you are too uptight, scared of making mistakes. Willem Dafoe has always been an interesting person especially with the kind of roles he takes on sometimes.

Listened to this yesterday. I thought about how much this mentality of 'not being at your best all the time' is underrated in a builders' community. Looking for failure is about getting rid of fears and growing. Not being afraid of not meeting expectations is creatively and performance-wise liberating. Something that we want to cultivate in /los-fomos - dare to fail, baby

I don’t try to be bad as somethings I have interest in, I’m just bad at it But I get the drift. Was this how you became so good at designing??
