Had a funny thought: design is inherently permissionless, but sometimes it doesn't feel like it. But whereas in coding it's pretty clear where you stand in terms of skill, design lives in the land of taste where things are fuzzier and that's where a lot of the gatekeeping happens. So maybe one of the things we can do in /design is bring down some of those barriers and create shorter, more inclusive feedback loops for enthusiasts and students to get their hands dirty Spefically, by running contests that are scoped down and with their own set of guidelines and learning material, increasing the size of the participant pool wdyt?

Limited scope may paradoxically increase participation rate in a similar way limited color palette is encourages a painter to confront the blank canvas. With limited means, the courage to act is greater.

You’re completely right, with design it’s a lot more dynamic
