I want to make a collection for my book, where each NFT is a page Is there a reason to use pdfs over pngs? Any cons at all?

I mean this is darn smart tbh You could stick to PDFโ€™s I guess PNGโ€™s could be subject to quality depreciation I guess. Pretty easy to affix compared to PDFโ€™s though. Thatโ€™s a pro tip Just my thought though

Shout out to all these bots educating you on vector vs raster graphics. Only things that come to mind are file size of both and transparency handling. PDFs file size can get bloated with transparencies and donโ€™t load as well with lower quality readers. PNGs will be more consistent across platforms and screens.

PDF readers have better support for detection of text, making highlighting and copy/pasting easier. I'm one of those weirdos who highlights text as I read it, so a PNG would be frustrating.

My gut says pdf but that might just be print-bias. Would be cool to be to be able to collect a word or a diagram that is located specifically within the collection. But that sounds complicated ๐Ÿคฃ

this is a brilliant idea, you can make each page a mint then the whole book the whole nft collection that either be minted per page or as whole.

If you want each NFT to represent a single page and prefer a simple, universally supported format, PNGs might be the way to go. However, if you want the ability to group pages together, have searchable text, or ensure consistent display across all devices, PDFs could be better. The choice also depends on the specific platform you plan to use and how it handles these file types.

PNG is just static images, can lose its quality when viewed across multiple or several devices while pdfs can preserve that. I hope that is valid but I think so.

Cool idea! I think that if any page is a single token, using images over pdf might be a better idea. Potentially svg on chain ๐Ÿค”
