Some mathematicians are geniuses and can do entire pages of equations in their heads Most, however, need to actually write them out Trying to design in your head without sketching or writing is like trying to solve a new maths problem in your head, just because That's just self sabotage; our capacity for visualisation and problem-solving is limited, and should be treated like RAM. Since we can't buy additional memory banks (yet lol), so what you should do is put every bit of reasoning on paper Every line on paper is so many bytes freed up in your mind, and also something objective that can be repurposed and communicated to clients or other designers to let them chip in

Designers do a lot of imagination We need lots of craft, maybe why I didn’t take it too seriously

I don’t think it’s impossible I have friends that are great artists but can’t visualize an art, they can only reproduce what they’ve seen and I have friends that are great at visualizing an idea and finalizing it all in their head, and then putting down the piece I think it’s more dependent on the individual

sometimes designing from your head is more of not wanting to exactly design but then you just have to. Or maybe pride, or better still you’re just that good.

sketching or writing down ideas really makes problem solving more manageable and also turns abstract thoughts into something tangible that can be shared and refined how do you approach getting your ideas out of your head and onto paper?

I was a mathematic science student and the best time is when the teacher give us an equation to solve or to prove it, logic and math ratiocinating, i miss this

I studied mathematics, and I really miss those moments when something was a bit difficult to solve, and you could spend days thinking it over, trying to crack it. There was this one time when I got stuck on a math problem. It took me several days to figure it out, but the strangest thing happened: the solution came to me in a dream. One morning, I woke up, jumped out of bed, and rushed to my notebook to jot down the solution before it slipped away. That night, I had dreamed the answer. And finally, I was able to solve the problem.

This feels like a personal message to me 😅. I’m never one to write anything down not even when reading… starting to feel like you know me 👀 I tend to cover more grounds quickly but the ideas are short lived and forget easily, do you think putting things into writing will do a great good?

I absolutely agree with the idea that putting every bit of reasoning on paper is crucial when it comes to designing, whether it's in mathematics or any other field. As much as some people may have a natural genius for solving problems in their heads, most of us mere mortals need to physically write things out in order to fully understand and communicate our ideas. Trying to keep everything in your head can lead to confusion, mistakes, and missed opportunities for collaboration. It's like trying to run a computer program without enough RAM - you're just setting yourself up for failure. So, I believe in sketching, writing, and getting everything down on paper. It frees up mental space, allows for clearer thinking, and enables better communication with others. #design #creativity #problemSolving #collaboration #visualisation.
