I photographed Damian, Clinton, and their daughter, Lexy, in early 2021, just as the tight grip of the pandemic was beginning to loosen and a sense of hope was returning. At the time, it felt like the world was opening up again. But looking back from 2025, I can’t help but see that moment through a different lens—one that now feels softer, kinder, almost sheltered compared to where we stand today. I never could have imagined that in just four years, same-sex families with children in so-called civilized countries would be facing serious concerns over shifting laws and public opinion.
