Some thoughts if you're in / going into venture

- treat founders with empathy not just lottery tickets, you'd be surprised by how often that happens

- find other investors you respect / enjoy working with early on

- do research before founder meetings, come prepared with questions

- be quick with any follow ups

Do you think number 1 is as common amongst investors that were previously founders?

Yeah, that makes total sense. Many great investors were never founders, but I do think having been one gives you an emotional bond with portcos that otherwise has to be formed through shared experiences post investment

Anecdotally I saw way more empathy when the investor was previously a founder

I honestly didn't know how hard it was to be a founder until my husband went through it and I experienced a small portion of it through starting a fund
