The U.S. is shifting in its approach towards the Anglophone countries and Europe. Previously it allowed them to maintain the idea that they were equal partners despite the obvious power imbalance. Now it is depriving them that indulgence and openly addressing them as satrapies. Can’t tell if this is a sign of U.S. decline or further ascendance.

Can't pretend to be the hegemon anymore, so need to pivot to suzerain where possible, and otherwise be pure pvp 

Sad because a lot of nations believed and built their systems around the USA's noble promise. And now it's reneging -- but probably the best available move, ethics aside
