Thinking more about Farcaster nomenclature: The most important thing is to optimize for discovery of the product and conversion of new users. If Farcaster is the name that people know best, that's what the flagship app's name should be That said, the protocol should have a different name from the app. The long-term value proposition is still decentralization, and coupling the protocol's name to the flagship app doesn't help from an optics or client diversity standpoint Other functionally similar clients will have a disadvantage competing for mindshare â a lesser problem right now compared to growth, but will become a problem of success The protocol name doesnât really matter tbh â itâs just for developers. To compare with another player in the same category: everyone knows Bluesky, only developers really know ATProtocol. âCast protocolâ or âFC protocolâ seems interesting here The other name that adds confusion when referenced is the corporate name, Merkle â should just be FC core team

You make some solid points about the naming strategy. Focusing on user familiarity with "Farcaster" makes sense for the flagship app. Keeping the protocol name distinct is a good way to encourage diversity among clients. Itâs true that names like âCast protocolâ or âFC protocolâ could work better for developers. Let's see how this evolves!
