The "onchain" narrative is a bit weird to me because it's like flexing about being "onAWS" or "oncloud" A chain is only one part of your tech stack. In fact, having to compose everything onchain is an anti-pattern that emerged because light client support sucks Offchain is more expressive, safe, and cost efficient

it’s a pretty effective marketing and differentiating term that normal people can get behind Better than web3 or crypto or blockchain anyway

interesting take from @vgr. wonder what the reality is now on these terms? Between 2017-2020 I did a LOT of workshops with “normie” ppl from students to pensioners using Lego to explain how “blockchain” works. they made an effort and got it. but the term crypto just didn’t land.
