This reads more as the difference between artists and artisans. While I lean more artisan, artists create incredible things as well! But artists, to me, create from the heart and soul and genai art doesn’t hit that for me.

IMO, it very much depends on the artist using AI as a tool!

For example, @ashira and I each use fine-tuned models trained on our art, because we've developed our own aesthetic senses and want to see that reflected in our work, even if it comes from an AI model.

Oh definitely agree! I guess I was referring more to people who aren’t artists who ask AI to give them art and then call it their own. Like seeing generated pixel art where there are spots that are not pixels or the classic 6-fingered humans.

I agree w @mxvoid. I think this is largely an issue when artists use AI as their art vs using it as a tool.. or using it to *find* a style vs coming into it w a style they’re expanding on.

I’ve been developing my personal artistic language for 20+ yrs & for me AI is just another tool I play with to make stuff.
