I just can't hit zone 2. I'm a HM training program. Ran 7km today, easy run at 5.30/km as prescribed. Very little effort. I would have expected a different breakdown. Don't want to obsess over hitting zone 2, but either A) my Garmin is not accurate, B) my baseline BPM is significantly higher and should keep an eye out

What is you max HR? Try this test: Warmup: 10-15min slow 3X (1min progressive to max + 2min slow) 5min very slow 5min fast 5min rest Test: 3min as fast as you can, you have to finish wasted Get the max HR measured during the test

And also record the pace during the test so we can make consideration if 5:30/km is zone2 for you.

Checking back on the day's I've been on track doing speed work, my Max HR is 171 bpm. Will try out the test you suggest and compare. Thanks Alberto!
