What I am learning is that there is a large contingent of software engineers who use “anti woke” and “free speech” to excuse their low to no soft skills and antisocial behavior.

Black man here 👋🏽 The topic is the root cause, which breeds ideologies & behaviors like this. A sign that says “no racism” 🪧🚫 Isn’t going to solve the systemic problem of kids raised to ignorantly believing that skin color affects IQ. The problem is systemic, not the words that were spoken. Elon Musk has turned X into 4Chan because his belief of “free speech” was molded from a time where the internet and modern culture was shock value ren and stimpy type humor. His intelligence lacks and his autistic fixation into politics has become everyone’s nightmare.

I was just pointing out that in this specific instance, the problem is not being anti-woke. There are a lot of anti-woke people who are not racist. Also in this case, the author of the cast did specify that these specific words prompted her to share this opinion, so I thought it was just fair to discuss these specific words. Talking about systemic issues would deserve another thread 🙏 In regards to racism in particular, it seems to be part of freedom of speech in the US, so protected by the 1st amendment, but in France for instance, it's not. Being racist is a crime punishable by law. Western cultures have different approaches to freedom of speech.

Right, the problem is mainly that they just use these concepts to excuse their behavior. The core of their issue is social awkwardness and anxiety. Certain ideologies take advantage of the fact that our American society kind of grooms this in movies, tv, etc. “Somebody stuff that dork in a locker!” So systemically, the ground for these concepts is already fertilized. There is no mental wellness course in school and no spiritual practice or promotion of empathy, it’s a free for all. So people like trump and andrew tate and elon musk just throw water on the ground and pick the fruits. 🍉 🍎 🍌
