Why do I always have a burst of creative energy right before I’m about to go to sleep… my mind always races and I suddenly have all these ideas of the things I can accomplish - where was this energy during the day??

I definitely get this way. For me, it's a combination of "argh I really wanted to make progress on this thing, I'm running out of time" and "I no longer have time to second-guess and over-analyze, just dive in and see what happens." Friday late afternoon tends to be some of my most productive work time.

Embrace the darkness. It is your friend. In other-words, if you can't sleep, then work and take some extra time off in the day when you're naturally sleepy. In the book "why we sleep" Early birds and night Owls actually have two different genetic types.

It’s because you’ve switched your brain from its goal/task-oriented networks to the default mode network, which is associated with creative thinking. It’s the same reason why people also say that they get their best ideas in the shower. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41380-021-01403-8

Notebook helps. Write it down - it’s off your mind and you can sleep. Look at the ideas the next day - some of them aren’t so great after all 😅 But some of them still are and you can get back to them with a fresh mind.

Heard of lifehack to place a note 📝 near to bed to fix all ideas and then sleep 😴 Also might be you need “loooong mornings”. Doing stuff in a lazy way during morning, smth for your own, sports or stretching, and then start to work including evening. Tldr; change your evenings with mornings

It's actually not the worst moment in the day to have a rush of ideas. The brain will reinterpret your thoughts and orchestrate them overnight so you have the final product when you wake up! 🧠
