Maybe a hot take: we should stop calling mainnet NFTs free mints if they’re going to cost $10 after gas and platform fee

Corollary: the best ways to help artists are 1. L2 infra investments (seemingly underway) and 2. find a way to reduce/remove the fee to the minter

lol ya imagine a coffee shop offering "free coffee" except you still have to pay a mandatory tip/service fee and the cost of the cup

This is why I’m encouraged by Zora. We’ve needed a chain dedicated to art and community NFTs that felt like a stable home. All other L2s and sidechains are too generic but Zora could work if it stays focused on art.

Can we implement a refund feature? Thought there was something like that available.

Even Zora "free mints" grate on me. $1.2 is far from free. You could mint dozens of actually free NFTs on Optimism or Arbitrum for that price. You could mint thousands of actually free NFTs on Nova or Gnosischain.
