How long do you usually take to recover after a big race? I just completed my first 50k and took a week off, spending a lot of time with my foam roller. I'm not sure if I'm feeling beat up from the race or from taking a week off.

My coach gives me 3 days off for a 50k, and 4 days off for a 50 miler. Im usually itching to get back to it by the 48 hour mark, while holding my foam roller tight 😅

I think I took too much time off. I felt like I needed a break from all the volume over the summer, but I’ll focus on active recovery going forward. I’ve been thinking about hiring a coach to help me break through to the next phase. Do you have any coach recommendations?

Hopefully it won’t take long to get back in the rhythm! My Coach is David Roche (SWAP)—he’s a beast. I’d recommend reading The Happy Runner book that he and his wife Megan wrote and let me know your thoughts 🤠

You're getting coached by one of the GOATs. He just put on a clinic at Leadville this year... he's definitely a beast
