I agree with a lot here. My question is what can the political left (which is losing in almost all western democracies now) do to create a compelling counter-narrative to right-wing populism? This election was easily winnable if the democrats had run a competent campaign and also contemplated on some wildly unpopular positions. We need a strong political left for healthy and balanced political democracies, but their current portfolio of ideas just is simply not resonating with voters in so many western nations.

Reconstruction feels increasingly timely and apropos. Reconstruction emphasizes the need to build big bold infrastructure. Reconstruction also offers a firm framework for way finding between through the culture war. Reconstruction is also personally poignant as we look to rebuild communities devastated by wildfire in LA
