homework is starting to be a touchy subject i don't mind if the kid makes an error. but she's developed a habit of refusing to acknowledge/correct her errors, which leads to frustration on both sides (perhaps it's payback for how i was w/ my parents 🫠) advice on how to keep the kid focused and myself more chill?

they refuse to ack they make mistake in general. what helped me a lot with my 8yo was telling him my mistakes of when I was young. and I saw in his eyes the relive when he said "so, you made mistakes too". "of course, we all do mistakes in our life" I replied. they need to know that there is nothing wrong about it

2nd kid (11) can't stay focused. If she wants help, I help. If not, I don't. For math I try to make it relevant. 3rd kid needs to learn that she doesn't get everything right directly. She used to take it bad. We sit down and I ask her how she things it needs to be done.

We try to follow the “Positive Discipline” book(s) on things like this. https://www.positivediscipline.com/sites/default/files/positive-discipline-guidelines.pdf Here’s a 1-sheet. I’d look at 5, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 I can send the book if you like, has a lot of great anecdotes and examples. You’re not alone!
