a new trend for some black women is creating an hair calendar which is pinning/bookmarking different hairstyles for each month of the year then sending the inspo for our hairdressers to recreate im curious, people of farcaster 1. where do/did you get your hairstyle inspo from? did you see a guy with short back and sides or watch a show and get inspired 2. also how often do you change up your hair style?

Haha, I started typing out the longest response to your questions because my hair journey has been a *journey*, but I realized I was rambling too much and stopped myself, haha. I’m currently embracing my natural hair! It’s the longest it’s ever been, and it’s all mine—untouched, not chemically straightened, curled, or colored. That said, it’s been a challenge to find a stylist who truly knows how to work with my stubborn, wavy, and frizzy hair. I’ve been considering working with a celebrity stylist for a video (without showing my face), but I’m still unsure if that’s the right decision. I’ve already tried so many different stylists from various backgrounds and with different expertise, hoping they could help me figure out the best natural approach. 👇

On top of that, I have some complex allergies as an adult that make salon visits even trickier. So, I’m trying to build up the confidence to advocate for myself—laying boundaries about not wanting any chemical treatments and asking for accommodations to make the experience work for me. It’s a process, but I’m learning to feel more comfortable and empowered about it! I could write a 3-4 page essay on the journey of my life based on my hair alone 😂

this is so interesting and relatable!!! i deffo could listen to you talk about this i love that your embracing your natural hair its such a journey, for me its “ easier” having my hair straightened but i decided two years ago to stop straightening it and just wear braids or natural so i actually relate to your story! yesss!!!advocating for yourself at the salon is SO hard i am a bit of a people pleaser so find it hard to be honest about what i want and need but i thought enough was enough when my hair literally fell out because of the gel a stylist used!! im so glad youre learning but agree that its a process i wish you all the best on your hair journey and i hope you can find a stylist who is perfect for you and your needs!!!
