Sharing my public journal: - my mom was a stay at home mom who quit all her jobs - I joined the board of a new non-profit - articulating what people-first means - added new distribution channel to gmfarcaster - interesting things across the internet https://someofthethings.substack.com/p/quitting-vs-dabbling

Beautiful essay (“newsletter” episode Adrienne. “Essay” holds more gravitas, despite the box Substack has everyone in) My mother made the “stay at home” choice too, pushing back on what had become by that time the modern norm for gen-x, & devoting herself to community service. Makes for a diff. childhood

I dig your inclusion of “suffering” in the context of organisational life. The reduction of suffering through “skilful means” (devops) I always thought tracked well with the Bodhisattva vow of reducing suffering. A practical implementation in the world (devops == suffering reduction) in a way cc @christin

Thanks for sharing <3 I'm almost entirely aligned with my mom. If we are unhappy or unsatisfied, then we change even against societal norms. I would never frame it as quitting; it's changing our minds and growing as humans. Your mom sounds v cool 🙌 Gotta have guts to take the road not taken.

Welp...I clicked out of curiosity, subscribed after reading this entry, and now find myself going back and reading your previous entries. 🙂 Just on the titles alone, I see several that I'm interested in reading.
